The Department of General Internal Medicine was established while maintaining its expertise in the training of clinicians with unique competency in medical examinations and the primary care of various diseases including the treatment of common diseases.
The department has worked towards the education, medical examination and treatment of diseases at the Kawasaki Medical School Kawasaki Hospital in Okayama city, which serves as an exemplary model for the practice of general medical examination and treatment.
In addition to lecturers being in charge of general medical examinations, outpatient treatment and the education of residents, weekly lectures by specialists are offered to educate staff on medical examinations and the treatment of common diseases.
The department has particular expertise in the areas of respiratory diseases, infectious disease, diabetes, kidney disease, nervous system disease, collagen disease and lifestyle-related diseases, and offers thorough training in general medical examination and disease treatment to fully equip clinicians with essential real-world skills.
We continue striving towards the advancement of clinical studies (such as the clinical features and treatment of influenza, and the management of lifestyle-related diseases) and the improvement of medical examinations and the treatment of common diseases.
We wish to work hard at imparting knowledge pertaining to clinical studies, medical examination and disease treatment to all clinicians, regardless of their scholarly background and interests.
Furthermore, we wish to collaborate with members of the Department of Medicine in providing clinicians with a solid foundation in the primary care of various diseases, medical examination and the treatment of common diseases while maintaining high expertise in this area.
Our goals include the education and training of 1) specialists in Internal Medicine, 2) specialists in the subdivision of Medicine, 3) medical practitioners, and 4) the publication of peer-reviewed medical and scientific articles.
